WHY YOUR CLOTHES SHOULD EARN THEIR PLACE
Every item in your wardrobe should earn it’s place, and by that I mean not only should you feel great when you wear it, but you should also be able to wear it several ways, mixing and matching to make an abundance of outfits. The waistcoat is one of those pieces that can be thrown over a sweater and jeans, a beaten up t-shirt and tailored trousers, or to toughen up a pretty dress. It has a timeless appeal that harks back to the 70s, my favourite fashion era, and has been worn by the most stylish of icons, from Lauren Bacall to Kate Moss, and famously Diane Keaton in Annie Hall. Of course you can find them new, but do check out the mens section of your local vintage or charity shop for something original, which is exactly where I found my 1920s waistcoat, that still has the Jermyn Street tailors label stitched in the back.
